1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Thermo Cycles ("the App"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease all use of the App and uninstall it from your device(s).

2. App and Website Description

Thermo Cycles is a thermodynamic cycle calculator application designed strictly for educational and reference purposes. The App provides calculations for various thermodynamic cycles including but not limited to Carnot, Otto, Diesel, Brayton, Rankine, refrigeration, and cascading cycles. Selected calculators are also available via the Thermo Cycles website. References to "the App" in these Terms include the web calculators where applicable.

3. Educational Use Only — Critical Disclaimer

THE CALCULATIONS PROVIDED BY THIS APP ARE FOR EDUCATIONAL AND REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY. THE APP IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING JUDGEMENT.

You expressly acknowledge and agree that:

  • Results must NOT be used for engineering design, construction, manufacturing, or any safety-critical applications.
  • Results must NOT be relied upon for professional engineering decisions or submissions.
  • Results must NOT be used as the sole basis for any academic assessment, exam, or certification.
  • All calculations employ simplifying assumptions including but not limited to air-standard assumptions, ideal gas behavior, steady-state conditions, and negligible kinetic and potential energy changes.
  • Real-world thermodynamic systems involve complexities that this App does not model.
  • You must independently verify all results before any use and consult qualified professional engineers for any engineering application.

4. In-App Purchases and Payments

a) The App offers optional in-app purchases to unlock additional thermodynamic cycle calculators. Certain cycles (Carnot, Otto, and Rankine) are available free of charge.

b) All purchase transactions are processed exclusively through the respective platform store (Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Microsoft Store). The developer does not process, access, or store any payment information.

c) Purchases are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or platform policy. Refund requests must be directed to the respective platform store.

d) Prices are set at the developer's discretion and may change without notice. The price displayed at the time of purchase is the price you pay.

e) Purchases are licensed to you personally and are non-transferable. Purchases may be restored on other devices using the same platform account via the "Restore Purchases" feature.

f) Purchasing the "Unlock All Cycles" option does not entitle you to a partial refund for any previously purchased individual cycle packs. Each in-app purchase is a separate, independent transaction.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

a) All content, designs, graphics, diagrams, code, algorithms, data tables, user interface elements, and documentation within the App are the exclusive property of the developer and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

b) You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

c) You may NOT:

  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of the App or any of its content.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App.
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
  • Use the App or its output for commercial purposes without express written permission.
  • Sublicense, rent, lease, or transfer the App or your license to any third party.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

The developer does not warrant that:

  • The App will meet your specific requirements.
  • The App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
  • The results obtained from using the App will be accurate, complete, or reliable.
  • Any errors in the App will be corrected.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER, ITS AFFILIATES, OR ITS LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Damages for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill.
  • Damages arising from incorrect or inaccurate calculation results.
  • Damages arising from reliance on any information provided by the App.
  • Damages arising from personal injury, property damage, or engineering failures.
  • Cost of procurement of substitute goods or services.

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID FOR THE APP OR IN-APP PURCHASES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the developer and its affiliates, officers, agents, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

  • Your use or misuse of the App.
  • Your reliance on any calculation results provided by the App.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any rights of a third party.
  • Any application of the App's output to engineering design, construction, or safety-critical applications.

9. Accuracy of Calculations and Data

a) The App uses standard textbook formulas and published thermodynamic property data (steam tables, refrigerant tables). While every reasonable effort is made to ensure accuracy, the developer makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any calculations or data.

b) Calculations employ an iterative constraint-solving approach and may involve numerical approximations. Results may differ from values obtained using other methods, software, or real-world measurements.

c) Thermodynamic property data may be periodically updated. The developer is not obligated to provide updates to data tables or calculation methods.

10. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

  • The accuracy and appropriateness of input values you provide.
  • Verifying all output values independently before any use.
  • Understanding the limitations and assumptions of each thermodynamic cycle model.
  • Ensuring that your use of the App complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

11. Termination

The developer may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.

12. Modifications to Terms

The developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

13. Web Calculators

The Thermo Cycles website provides free web-based calculators for selected thermodynamic cycles. The following additional terms apply to the web calculators:

a) The web calculators are subject to the same educational-use-only disclaimers as the App (see Section 3). Results from the web calculators must NOT be used for engineering design, construction, or safety-critical applications.

b) The web calculators use the same formulas, thermodynamic data, and calculation engine as the App. No additional warranty is provided regarding the accuracy of web calculator results.

c) Certain cycles are available free of charge on the web. Additional cycles require downloading the App and purchasing the relevant cycle pack.

d) The web calculators do not require account creation or login. No personal data is collected through the web calculators (see Privacy Policy).

e) The developer reserves the right to modify, limit, or discontinue the web calculators at any time without notice.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the developer regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and representations.
